ET TUBE- LIFE SAVING DEVICE IN INTUBATION
The ET tube is simply a tube of about 21-23cm in length and is made up of Polyvinylchloride (PVC), is placed between the vocal cords through the trachea (windpipe) to provide oxygen and inhaled gases directly to lungs. Its main purpose is to establish and maintain an open airway path to ensure adequate exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide via connecting to a ventilator. It is widely employed in the process of Endotracheal Intubation. Tracheal intubation, or simply an intubation, is a medical process in which a tube is placed into trachea through nose or mouth to assist in breathing. In severe cases, it is placed through mouth.
